Increasingly, charter school scammers are attempting to establish phishing connections via texting. They will ask you for your mobile number by email or they will find that number online after seeing that you joined EdOps.
A strong defensive move is to add the following phone numbers of leadership staff to your mobile phones so that it's easier for you to recognize phishing attempts by text.
Everyone should add these phone numbers:
Dan Theisen *** | (202) 352-7878 |
Brad Olander | (202) 631-2278 |
*** Most often used in phishing
Please also consider adding these numbers:
Natalia Bovkun | (703) 872-9616 |
Josh Marks | (202) 746-5779 |
Laura Lund | (302) 381-1563 |
Karen Bernstein | (314) 413-2397 |
Bryan Patten *** | (202) 251-1737 |

In these cases, Bryan and Dan were not hacked. Instead, the criminals used social engineering to find out that you work at EdOps and then searched the Internet and found your email or phone number.
Emails and texts are annoying but harmless, as long as you ignore them. For phone texts, you may wish to go ahead and click the "Report Junk" link.
